The Bouncing Souls – Simplicity

There aren’t many bands in this day and age that have been together as long as The Bouncing Souls.  Formed in 1989, Simplicity is the 10th studio from the Jersey punk legends.  The goal of this album was to keep it simple, not over produce the songs and sound live.  Their music always pumps me up, and they are one of my favorite bands.  Here is a taste of the new album.  This song is called “Writing on the Wall”.

Car Seat Headrest – Teens of Denial

Car Seat Headrest are a 3-piece indie-rock band based out of Seattle.  Front man Will Toledo is an exceptional singer-song writer with a unique style (although he sounds a bit like Julian Casablancas).  The album is getting rave reviews, in large part due to Will’s raw, abstract lyrics.  They had a huge fuck up weeks before the album dropped that caused a re-call and destruction of all vinyl in circulation.  The reason was an unauthorized sample of the Cars song “Just What I Needed” that the label thought they had permission to use.  Well shit happens, and the album is out now, so go get it! Here is the opening track called “Fill In the Blanks”.
