Coming to Life: The Canadian Conservation Institute and a Horse-Drawn Hearse – Project Complete! *Online Lecture*

Join Amanda Salmon. This online talk premiering on Tuesday, October 29 at 1 p.m. gives an overview of conservation, the Canadian Conservation Institute, and its services, and highlights observations and recommendations for a 1930s horse-drawn winterized hearse from the Grey Roots collection which underwent treatment in Ottawa, now complete. The hearse is currently on display at Grey Roots.
Amanda Salmon, Conservator at the Canadian Conservation Institute, specializes in furniture, wooden objects and heritage interiors. She holds a B.A. (Hons) in Art History and English from Queen’s University, as well as diplomas in Collections Conservation and Management from Fleming College and Cabinetmaking from the Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology. She has also worked extensively in the private sector for several museums and institutions across Ontario, including the Ontario Heritage Trust, the Ontario Museum Association and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Amanda is a member of the Canadian Association for Conservation of Cultural Property and the International Institute for Conservation of Historic and Artistic Works.
