Adam Shoalts: presented by Middle Grey

Declared one of the “greatest living explorers” by Canadian Geographic, and named “Canada’s Indiana Jones” by the Toronto Star, Adam Shoalts is a professional adventurer and the author of five national bestselling books.

Adam’s work has also been featured in media around the world, including the BBC, CNN, CTV, CBC, Reader’s Digest, the Washington Post, The Guardian and many others. He is the Westaway Explorer-in-Residence of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society and in 2016 was named a national champion of the Trans-Canada Trail.

With a particular concern for preserving wild places, he has been involved with many conservation organizations and in 2008, he received the Niagara Region’s environmental award for his work preserving local watersheds.

When he’s not on expeditions, Shoalts is one of Canada’s most popular public speakers and on Thursday, December 19, he will describe his many outdoor experiences and bring inspirational messages of resiliency, perseverance, and overcoming adversity to the sanctuary at Annesley Church in Markdale.

Shoalts will focus on his expeditions, such as crossing nearly 4,000 km of Canada’s Arctic alone, but he also will touch on his award-winning books, the environment, and draw many insights from his expeditions. A geographer, historian, and Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society for “extraordinary contributions to geography, he has a vast amount of experience to draw upon.
